The National Timber Standardization Technical Committee was established in August 1984 with the approval of the National Standardization Commission, consisting of three sub technical committees: Basic Standards, Log, and Sawn Timber. Mainly responsible for organizing the formulation, revision, and promotion of national and industry standards for wood, and undertaking the domestic standardization technical business work of the International Organization for Standardization Timber Technical Committee (ISO/TC 218). As of the end of 2022, there are currently 275 national wood standards, including 145 national standards and 130 industry standards; There are three current wood standards in foreign languages, including two national standards in foreign languages and one industry standard in foreign languages.
In recent years, the Chinese Academy of Forestry Sciences has attached great importance to standardization, formulated the Management Measures of the Standardization Technical Committee of the Chinese Academy of Forestry, prepared the annual report of the Standardization Committee, and strengthened the management and publicity of the Standardization Committee. The Chinese Academy of Forestry will also take this opportunity to strengthen the operation management and service work of the National Standards Committee in accordance with the deployment and arrangement of the National Standards Committee, and make greater contributions to creating a new situation of forest and grass standardization work, enhancing China’s international standardization capacity of forest and grass, and supporting the high-quality development of forest and grass standardization in China.
