Baltic Birch, also known as ‘Russian Birch’, is multi-ply product, having more plies (or layers) than standard domestic plywood. Baltic Birch is a plywood that is light in color with excellent strength and stability due to core made out of single piece Birch veneers. The thick face veneer allows a lot of sanding without going through the top veneer. Woodworkers cover the edges of Baltic Birch with edge banding or leave the edges bare.
We produce the sheets in 5’x5′ and 4′ x 8′, mainly in a BB/BB grade. BB/BB grade means that face and back is a single piece veneers as well as the inner core. Both face and back veneers allow on average 3-6 small color-matched patches. Some light mineral streaks and tight pin knots may be present.
The 5′ x 5′ sheet uses an interior glue that works well if you are using a laser to cut the material. The 4′ x 8′ Baltic Birch uses and exterior glue that holds in wet conditions.
