Technical details (general)
- Construction:
- Exterior birch plywood faced with a hard-wearing UV-resistant film with an ‘orange peel’ texture to its surface, offering fully exterior performance
- Standard thickness:
- 6mm, 9mm, 12mm, 15mm, 18mm, 21mm, 24mm, 27mm, 30mm
(plus surface coating)
- Standard sizes:
- 1200 / 1220 / 1250 x 2400 / 2440 / 2500mm
- 1200 / 1220 x 3000 / 3050 / 3300 / 3660mm
- 1500 / 1525 x 2400 / 2440 / 3000 / 3050 / 3660mm
- Special sizes:
- In principle, any size can be produced up to the maximum stated above, subject to minimum production quantity being met
- Surface coating:
- UV-resistant film (approx 0.2mm) with slight stipple texture often described as similar to ‘orange peel’
- Lacquered panels have satin sheen, while unlacquered are more matt finish
- Edge treatment:
- Typically sealed with exterior acrylic paint to protect against moisture
- Wear rating:
- Taber abrasion value = typical 1400R (EN 438-2)
- Tolerances:
- Length/width:
Typical: up to 1m @ ±1mm, up to 2m @ ±2mm , 2m & above @ ±3mm - Thickness (core plywood):
Ranges from 4mm @ +0.3mm/-0.4mm to 50mm @ ±1.2mm - (Special tolerances by arrangement)
- Bonding Quality:
- EN 314-2 Class 3 – Exterior
- E1 (EN 13986) Low formaldehyde, CARB II, ULEF (Ultra Low Emitting Formaldehyde)
- Hazard class:
- EN 636-3 – Exterior & high moisture applications
- Approximate weights of birch plywood core:
- 6mm =4.4 kg/m2
- 9mm =6.3 kg/m2
