Maple plywood is characterized by sapwood that varies from soft pinkish white to light yellow to light khaki in color. Its surface is smooth, tight, and dense. The heartwood ranges from dark brown to green to black.
In the Classic Core® combination (“combi”) core panel construction, cross bands of thin MDF are utilized in place of veneer cross bands in an otherwise domestic veneer core panel construction. This combination of MDF and veneer core provides a smoother, improved surface over softwood veneer core cross bands, reducing core telegraphing potential through the decorative wood face and back.
Classic Core constructions are also lighter in weight and superior in screw holding over composite cores of equivalent thickness. These smooth combination panels are ideal for applications including furniture, cabinetry and fixtures.4 x 8 Maple plywood panelPlain slice: Cutting logs in half lengthwise, then slicing the halves lengthwise produces a veneer with a unique grain patternBookmatched: Every other leaf or component of veneer from a given log is turned over to produce a mirror image at the splice joint, much like turning the pages of a book, to produce an aesthetically appealing look across the faceRotary cut back: Peeling the entire log produces a continuous ribbon of veneerExcellent machining properties
